A certified teacher since 2011, I was inspired to open Latrobe Reading Center to provide students with the individualized attention, detailed assessments, and customized lessons that they need to achieve reading proficiency and their learning goals. I strive to enable my students to successfully compete in school and in their future workplaces, and to discover that learning is an enjoyable, meaningful experience.

I earned my Elementary (K-6) and Secondary Biology (7-12) teaching certificates from Saint Vincent College and a Master’s in Education/Reading from California University of Pennsylvania. I then completed my reading internship at California University of Pennsylvania’s Summer Reading Program, where I received specialized training in designing and implementing instructional interventions for striving readers. After completing my Master’s degree, I obtained my English as a Second Language Program Specialist certification and worked as a Reading Specialist and an English Language Arts classroom teacher for the Norwin School District. Presently, I work as an English as a Second Language Teacher for the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit.

Before becoming a teacher and Reading Specialist, I worked for over 20 years as a licensed Chiropractor.  I fell in love with teaching while homeschooling my children for several years. Outside the classroom, I enjoy caring for my dog, Buddy, reading, backyard birding, hiking, gardening, and participating in triathlons.
